The Value of Audience Segmentation

What is Audience Segmentation?

Audience segmentation is a strategic marketing approach that involves dividing a broad customer base into subsets of consumers who share similar characteristics, behaviors, or interests.

Segment

A dynamic group that targets users based on demographic, behavioral, or technical characteristics and actions.

This process allows marketers to tailor their messaging and outreach to specific customer groups, enhancing the relevance and impact of their communication efforts. It also allows for more targeted reporting and analytics.

Why Create an Audience Segment?

Audience segments promote meaningful connections with customers. By grouping users that share certain characteristics or behaviors, you can avoid over-targeting or missing potential connections with customers.

For example, if your brand requires an email address to sign up, you could make a group for users who haven't given their email yet. This lets you customize your messages to motivate these users to finish signing up.
